At the 2024 Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes and Bayley both outlasted 29 other Superstars to win their respective Royal Rumble Matches and earn the right to challenge a World Champion at The Showcase of the Immortals. Plus, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns successfully defended his title against Randy Orton, AJ Styles and LA Knight in a Fatal 4-Way Match, and Kevin Owens accidently got himself disqualified in a United States Title Match against Logan Paul.

The WWE Royal Rumble 2024, from St. Petersburg, Fla., advertised a WWE Undisputed Universal Championship match as Roman Reigns defended his historic reign against LA Knight, Randy Orton and AJ Styles. The Rumble also advertised not-your-average-celebrity wrestler Logan Paul defending his United States Championship against Kevin Owens.

Of course, the headline matches of the event were the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble, with CM Punk the favorite to win the men’s Royal Rumble and Bayley the favorite to win the women’s Royal Rumble.

Hulk Hogan appeared in a video package previewing Royal Rumble card.

For the second year in the row, Pat McAfee made surprise appearance—not in the Royal Rumble—but on commentary. This time, however, Michael Cole knew all about it.

Natalya entered No. 1, which means there’s no way there’s going to be back-to-back winners from the No. 1 position.

Entrant No. 2 was the first surprise entrant of the night in the form of Florida’s own Naomi. The former TNA Knockouts champion didn’t show any ring rust in her early exchanges with Natalya.

The cameraman struggled trying to keep up with Candice LeRae when she hit the ring.

Michael Cole said we’ve never had two winners of the WWE Royal Rumble. Bret Hart and Lex Luger from 1994 say hi.

Bianca Belair hit an impressive springboard backflip on three women.

Piper Niven caught a falling Chelsea Green and teased dropping her, only to laugh and put her back in the ring.

Michael Cole made a Freudian slip by accidentally calling Piper “Nia.”

Valhalla entered at No. 24 and Michael Cole marked out because she was wearing antlers. Suddenly, she was interrupted by R-Truth. Truth was promptly eliminated by Nia Jax, and so was Valhalla.

Jade Cargill entered at No. 28 to a huge pop, eliminating Nia Jax. Tiffany Stratton followed her.

Naomi was eliminated after an hour, setting a Royal Rumble record for longest lasting.

The Final 3 came down to Bayley, Jade Cargill and Liv Morgan, and Bayley prevailed.

Roman Reigns Def. AJ Styles, Roman Reigns And Randy Orton

After a well-placed Slim Jim product placement, and long ring entrances and introductions, This Fatal-4 Way quickly spilled out to the outside where LA Knight made use of the announce title.

AJ Styles returned to his standard ring gear and looked much better.

There was little-to-no heat for this match early on as fans knew who was going to win, and just wanted to watch the men’s Royal Rumble. In fact, the only heat this match had early on was anytime LA Knight got involved.

The match picked up energy when Randy Orton hit a series of RKO’s out of nowhere, Staying true to form, Solo Sikoa interfered when Orton had a chance to beat Roman Reigns. Cinema (eye-roll.)

After a pair of nearfalls, this Fatal 4-Way received “this is awesome” chants.

Kevin Owens Def. Logan Paul

This match was in a death spot, having to follow a world title match and coming before the men’s Royal Rumble.

Staying true to his promise, Kevin Owens was not wearing his cast.

The story of this match began when Logan Paul working over Kevin Owens’ injured right hand.

Paul continued to show his impressive athleticism as he flew all over the ring against Kevin Owens.

Logan Paul taunted Corey Graves, saying “you said no man can superplex Kevin Owens!” Owens promptly countered into a modified suplex of his own.

Despite being a proverbial “comedown match” fans really got into this one.

Grayson Waller and Austin Theory hit the ring while Paul’s goon Jeff distracted the referee. They gave Paul brass knuckles and Kevin Owens apprehended them and used them. At about two-and-three-quarters, referee Ryan Tran saw the brass knuckles and disqualified Kevin Owens.

In a possible WrestleMania preview, Jimmy and Jey Uso kicked off the Royal Rumble match, and fans were electric for it.

Grayson Waller hosted an impromptu “Grayson Waller Effect” on his way to the ring at No. 3.

Andrade made his surprise return to WWE at No. 4 and received an even bigger pop when he took his mask off.

Pat McAfee entered the Royal Rumble at No. 22, and lasted for only 38 seconds before eliminating himself. He didn’t want any smoke with Breakker, Omos and GUNTHER. Michael Cole gloated that he was still the longest-lasting announcer in Royal Rumble history at 1:24.

R-Truth entered the Royal Rumble at No. 24 and hit the first hot tag in Royal Rumble history.

The Final Four was CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and GUNTHER. World champions Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns looked on from their respective skyboxes.

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes made for a heated Final 2. Punk received a mixed reaction throughout the match. The “Cody” chants were much stronger.

CM Punk hit Rhodes with a Pedigree, and then said “can you believe I did that s—t?”
